Jesus tells a story in our gospel reading for today that’s commonly known as “The Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard.”  But that title (not part of the sacred text by the way) is all wrong.  It captures nothing about what is important in the story.  A better title would probably be “The Crazy Payday” or better yet, “The Generous Landowner.”

As much as we try to avoid it or deny it, we all have to deal with conflict in our lives.  In today’s Gospel Jesus gives us tools to deal with it.  Specifically, he outlines a process for reconciliation. But more than that, Jesus also gives us himself with a promise to be present when we come together in his name as reconciled brothers and sisters.
