We spent Friday night in Concordia Language Villages in Bemidji. And before bed we went for a little walk to see the stars. There is nothing like looking at the stars up north away from the glare of city lights. It almost seems that there are actually more stars up there. Familiar constellations are filled in with multiple groups of stars we’d never seen down here. We could even see the band of the Milky Way. And after we went to bed we heard through our open window a kid outside screaming, “I just saw a shooting star!” We missed that. Whenever I look at the stars I am amazed by the awesome power of our creator who, as Paul says in our second reading for today, “formed the universe at his command.” (more…)
