Which way did he go?

A dim-witted hound repeatedly asks this question in a classic Loony Toons episode.  He’s looking for the fox that always seems to elude him even though he is right in front of him.  The poor dog gets tricked into chasing off into some pretty dangerous paths that usually lead him over a steep cliff.

Lent 1, February 14, 2016

Last week’s Super Bowl was as much about the commercials as it was about the game.  Perhaps more than ever!  This year several commercials were even released BEFORE the game to get the buzz going.  One survey suggests that as many as 78% of Americans look forward to the commercials more than the actual game.  And the cost of this year’s ads went up to 4.5 million dollars for a 30 second spot.  That’s amazing.  And it’s all designed to tempt us with a new product or service . . . convincing us that we need a new vehicle or at least another bag or Doritos.

Epiphany 4, January 31, 2016

Last week we heard about Jesus appearing in Nazareth synagogue to read the Scriptures for those in his hometown.  He read from the prophet Isaiah:

 

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
